With our massive and continued expansions, our Legal Team continues to grow with the rest of our company. Barton Associates is seeking an experienced attorney to join its in-house legal department. The role requires a strong legal and business acumen, a flexible and positive attitude, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties. The position reports to the company’s General Counsel (or such other individual as may be designated from time to time).

Responsibilities

The role includes a broad range of responsibilities, including to:

  • Advise General Counsel and company management on a variety of contractual and other legal matters
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts with the company’s customers and business partners (including supply agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, licensing agreements, and vendor agreements)
  • Research, analyze and advise General Counsel on legal/regulatory compliance issues, particularly healthcare, commercial, employment and government contracts laws/regulations
  • Assist with risk management assessments and strategies
  • Assist with the development and implementation of contract templates, internal policies and training programs, and various business and compliance initiatives
  • Assist with the management of litigation, government audits/investigations, and various business disputes that may arise from time to time
  • Assist with the maintenance of the company’s various state licenses, registrations, and filings
  • Partner with the company’s sales, finance, information technology, human resources and other teams to support all aspects of the business
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Legal Department team to accomplish departmental and corporate objectives
  • Work on other tasks and matters as may be assigned by the General Counsel or others from time to time

Qualifications

  • JD degree from accredited/recognized law school
  • Member in good standing of the Florida Bar (or ability to register with the Florida Bar as authorized in-house counsel)
  • 5+ years of legal experience in a private law firm or as in-house corporate counsel
  • Significant experience drafting and reviewing commercial contracts and/or litigating commercial disputes
  • Knowledge and experience related to the following is desirable: government contracts law; healthcare law; employment law; intellectual property law; and sales and procurement functions (preferably in the healthcare or staffing/recruiting industries)
  • Uncompromising commitment to professionalism, integrity, honesty, ethics, and confidentiality
  • Sound legal and business judgment; ability to think strategically and give practical advice appropriately considering legal risks and business objectives
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to gain trust of and work effectively with stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment and discretion
  • Ability to present information and communicate clearly and effectively
